Legacy is a business simulation game where you invent products, build them and run a company. I sat inside the development team as their main QA contact for most of production, so when something broke, I was usually the first person they spoke to.
What I did
- Fed back on design and user experience as features went in, as well as on bugs.
- Wrote and ran test plans for the simulation and progression systems, which had a lot of moving parts that affected each other.
- Looked after the bug database: triaging, logging, tracking and verifying fixes.
- Was the go between for our external QA partners, keeping their testing pointed at whatever mattered most that week.
Being the only embedded QA meant doing two jobs at once. Some days I was heads down testing, other days I was planning and passing information between the developers and the external team. The upside was a very short feedback loop, so issues got reported, fixed and checked quickly.
Tools
