Company: Merge Games (Publisher) / SEGA (IP Holder)
Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a remake of the SEGA Master System platformer. I worked on it as a publisher QA tester at Merge Games, where we usually had several projects on the go at once, so a lot of the job was planning: working out what each game needed and making sure it was tested in time for each submission date.
What I did
- Full compliance passes on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC (Steam and Epic), plus Stadia and Luna.
- Wrote the test plans and guides in Confluence that both our internal team and external testers worked from.
- Sent feedback to the external developer on bugs and on things that could be better for players.
- Helped newer testers get to grips with functional and compliance testing and the platform holders’ requirements.
Because people remember the original so fondly, I also kept an eye on whether it still felt like Alex Kidd, and a good chunk of my feedback was about how faithful it was to the Master System version.
